The Jones MFG guitars and basses (a.k.a. "VertebrAxe") are versatile, fretted, carbon fiber/graphite instruments designed to expand the creative expression of guitarists, bassists, and touchstyle musicians.

Our current instruments are 36-inch scale 6-string guitars and 4-string basses, both with 36 frets. (Yes! 3 full octaves!) You can tune them however you prefer: any string at any tension.

The hollow chamber carbon-fiber/graphite construction is strong and is impervious to changing atmospheric conditions such as heat and humidity, so there's no thermal expansion and the body needs no adjustment. And the lightly scalloped fretboard enhances playability.

We offer a wide variety of pickup and electronics options including piezo bridge and Sustaniac™ systems. Call (734.717.8652) or email doug@jonesmfgmusic.com today to discuss what you want in your Jones MFG guitar or bass!

For you guitarists...

The Jones MFG guitar offers a familiar 6-string design, with an extra full lower octave, stretching your range into the same range as a 4-string bass. Its available 36 frets make long tapping speed runs easy, while maintaining the same tuning and string spacing you are used to.

And for bassists...

Bass players' needs have also been addressed, whether you want to keep your standard 4-string spacing, or make the jump to a tighter baritone-style 6-string configuration. Plus, you can find out what you've been missing by ordering the Sustainiac™ option to get amazing sustained and bowed effects.

Ergonomics

We've thought long and hard about the ergonomics of the instrument, and have come up with a variety of methods for holding, hanging, strapping, standing, attaching or otherwise positioning the instrument on or near your body so you can adjust the instrument to your individual playing position.
  • Select the shoulder hook, a convenient and fast way to get the instrument upright and onto your body,
  • Put it on any standard mic stand to keep it at the ready, an extra instrument on stage at all times,
  • Use our cello-style end-pin for more mobile tilt and swivel action, or
  • Use the belt hook to play in a more traditional touch-style position.
Whatever your style or technique, you'll find the features of our guitars facilitate your playing.
